Trap Neuter Return
Our Feral Cat Trap Neuter Return (TNR) projects are carried out on an ongoing basis by our dedicated volunteers. One female cat can be responsible for breeding more than 50 kittens in the space of 16 months. By sterilizing our feral cat population, we see a remarkable reduction in Mazatlan’s total feral cat population.
We use wire traps to catch feral cats at night for sterlization the next morning.
After the spay/neuter procedure, the vet clips the tip of the left ear, so that we can track which cats have been sterilized.
We return cats to their original colonies, where people feed and look after them.
